02 Mar Hotel Review: Annapolis Waterfront Hotel
Gearing up for your first getaway of 2017? I’ve got just the place to help you leave winter’s chill behind and vault into spring: The Annapolis Waterfront Hotel!
Recently renovated and reopened as one of Marriott’s premier Autograph Collection properties, the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel is quite frankly one of the best waterfront hotels in the mid-Atlantic. The hotel features 150 rooms that are oh-so-comfortable and delightfully furnished in nautically-inspired blues and patterns. (Annapolis is the home of the U.S. Naval Academy, after all!)
And – bonus – the property is located right on the water in the heart of historic downtown Annapolis, offering rooms with the best view in town and easy walking distance to all of the city’s best restaurants and shops. Fun Fact: It’s the only downtown hotel located on the harbor, and let me tell you– the view is just everything.
Explore all that the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel has to offer—and share your thoughts in the comments below!
Hotel Review: Annapolis Waterfront Hotel
The Property:
From the moment you walk into the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel’s inviting lobby, you’re whisked away to your own waterfront retreat. The vibe throughout the hotel is polished yet casual, encouraging guests to kick back and relax all the while knowing that their every need is well taken care of.
As mentioned above, the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel leans heavily on the nearby Naval Academy to inspire its décor. All throughout the property, you’ll find special touches that give a nod to the local landmark. Archival photos and unexpected memorabilia abound—sure to impress everyone from history lovers to Navy fans to the Annapolis neophyte.
If you’re looking to whet your whistle, the Annapolis Waterfront hotel is also home to a popular Annapolis staple: Pusser’s Caribbean Grille… which happens to be home to my favorite tropical drink, the Painkiller. Enjoy one (or more) of these boozy cocktails all while enjoying the hotel’s signature Harbor-side views.
The Room:
The Annapolis Waterfront Hotel features 150 newly updated rooms with either downtown or waterfront views. Each room is impeccably decorated in crisp blue and white décor, and outfitted with some seriously comfortable beds. Each room is a delight, but if you want to give yourself a real treat—book one of their 16 balcony rooms.
As they are the only 16 hotel rooms in downtown with waterfront balconies, they are priced accordingly (balcony rooms are around $299/ night during the off-season), but when you enjoy your morning coffee on a balcony with this sunrise view, you’ll find it’s worth every penny.
A room with a balcony is the way to go!
Check out this EPIC Annapolis sunrise!
The Perks:
Guests of the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, are given exclusive access to some special guests-only perks that is sure to make any Annapolis getaway even more memorable.
All guests of the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel are able to enjoy a meal at the Naval Academy’s Officer’s Club, “The Alley,” that is situated on the impeccable grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. This is an incredible opportunity, as the Club is not open to the public. It’s due only to the hotel’s close connection to the Academy that this experience is made possible for guests. (Note: This experience must be booked with the Front Desk and all guests must adhere to the U.S. Naval Academy’s dress code and security requirements.)
Also, the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel has partnered with a selection of Annapolis’ finest restaurants (Chart House, Harry Browne’s, Osteria 177, Severn Inn and Ruth’s Chris Steak House) to offer hotel guests a complimentary item when dining. The Front Desk has all the delicious details!
The Location:
The Annapolis Waterfront Hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown historic Annapolis. Local favorites like Ego Alley, Main Street and the neighborhood of Eastport are just around the corner, ensuring easy exploration of Annapolis’ best things to do.
For my recommendations on what to do and where to eat in Annapolis, check out my post “Annapolis, MD: A Foodie Getaway” – originally featured in Edible DC Magazine.
Located right on the water, the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel is close to all of the downtown maritime activities.
The Bottom Line:
If a relaxing waterfront retreat with plenty of historic touches and nearby nightlife is what you seek, you will LOVE the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. It’s stylish, comfortable and distinctly nautical… It’s the perfect home base for an Annapolis getaway!
