03 Feb Snapshot of the Week: Seals at the End of the World
With so much of the US under a blanket of snow I couldn’t resist…
Somewhere on the Beagle Channel, all the way down at the southernmost tip of South America, are an outcropping of little islands filled with seals. On this day towards the end of October, snow squalls popped up and created a stark image of seals literally stranded at sea. I took many shots from the deck of a violently rocking fishing boat, but this one was by far my favorite.
What you can’t see are the huddling of about 30 other seals, just to the left of this shot here. What this little guy did to ostracize himself from the group, we’ll never know.
