Snapshot of the Week: Giant Kapok Tree Silhouette

Snapshot of the Week: Giant Kapok Tree Silhouette

I took this photo last week, on a late afternoon walk on the Palm Beach lake trail into West Palm Beach, Florida. This Giant Kapok Tree was planted in 1887 and is a landmark to walkers-by and boaters alike, and I was taken by its delicate silhouette against the urban backdrop behind it. Up close, the bark looks like elephant skin, and the rustling leaves sound like rain.
